Worth it, right? Wish I had something like that when I was in college.
Meraki the Well-Being Living Learning Community is looking for students who actively want to engage in building a community they care about. Somewhere along the way the world has forgotten the importance of connection, of helping one another and making sure each person feels like they matter. With mental health issues on the rise, 67% of students feeling lonely, and being overwhelmed by the fear of missing out Meraki strives to support every student in finding their place at VT so that they can "Be Well, Be You." Our student leadership team holds a variety of events to help students feel welcomed and engaged. We participate in hikes, off campus trips, cooking demonstrations, sports and physical fitness, art, service, self care, yoga, family dinners, socials, small group alternative programs, holidays and celebrations, and more.
There is something for everyone in this community. It's especially great for Health Majors such as HNFE majors and students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences(CALS) which are our official academic connections, but students of any major or college can apply. We have a lot of students who are concerned about finding connections and want activities planned for them. Tons of students who are interested in finding other students interested in intramural sports and physical fitness. We also offer that support element needed for students who have struggled in the past and need that extra touch point.
We fill up extremely fast, so do not delay in applying if this is the only community you can see yourself in.
Coming to Hokie Focus? We'll have a booth at the Information Faire in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom Saturday, March 21st 11:30 to 4pm, and Sunday, March 22nd 11:30 to 2pm. We'll have building and program tours leaving from the Payne Hall Archway Saturday at 12pm, 2, and 4pm and Sunday 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm.
