Building homes, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities through education!

USU Blanding was pleased to participate in a topping-off celebration in the Red Mesa Chapter area, recognizing an important construction milestone for a home being built through the University of Utah's DesignBuildUTAH program.

For nearly two decades, DesignBuildUTAH has partnered with the Utah Navajo Trust Fund and local communities to provide architecture students with hands-on educational experiences while addressing housing needs in the region.

Representing USU Blanding were Bayley Hedglin, Associate Director of Development, and Shawn Piechowski, with TechEd. The visit provided an opportunity to connect with students, faculty, and community partners, learn more about the program, and explore possibilities for future collaboration.

At USU Blanding, we recognize the value of education that extends beyond the classroom and the importance of partnerships that strengthen the communities we serve.

Thank you to DesignBuildUTAH and everyone involved for the invitation to celebrate this milestone!

The Northern Navajo Fair is the oldest and most traditional of the Navajo fairs, bringing generations together to celebrate harvest, kinship (K’é), community, and Diné culture. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Tradition, We Rise Together in K’é,” beautifully reflects the importance of honoring tradition while continuing to strengthen our communities together.

We also had an extra reason to celebrate: our new Associate Vice President, Ken Guan’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Ken!

Like this year’s theme, USU Blanding is rooted in tradition and strengthened by community, building on more than 40 years of education and opportunity in southeastern Utah.
