IU Research & Teaching Preserve The Indiana University Research and Teaching Preserve (RTP) consists of seven sites totaling nearly

The establishment of the IURTP recognizes and affirms that not all scientific research is done in a lab and not all teaching is done in the classroom. The IURTP includes nearly 1600 acres of natural areas at seven properties located within Monroe, Brown, and Morgan Counties: Bayles Road, Bradford Woods (northernmost 437 acres), Kent Farm, Griffy Woods, Lilly-Dickey Woods, Morgan-Monroe State Fore

st AmeriFlux Tower, and Moores Creek. The diversity of habitat types encompasses a variety of ecosystems that are typically found in southern Indiana. Past and current research projects include invasive plants, deer herbivory, forest community dynamics, cicada biocomplexity, nitrogen deposition, and watershed monitoring. The preserve is available for use by IU researchers, classes, students, visitors, and community members. The IURTP falls under the care of the Integrated Program in the Environment (IPE). The IPE is the storefront for all IU Bloomington undergraduate and graduate degrees related to the environment as well as for postdoctoral training and support. The IPE facilitates collaboration in education and research among the many environmental, social, and sustainability sciences faculty and programs on the campus.
