Thinking About Flight Training? Meet the Kind of Instructor You’ll Be Learning From.
One of the biggest questions people have before starting flight training is simple:
Who’s actually going to teach me?
At Academy College, you’re not just getting flight hours—you’re working directly with a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) who’s there to guide you through every step.
We recently welcomed a new instructor, Autumn Holt, and her path is one a lot of prospective students can relate to.
She completed her training at Utah Valley University, earning degrees in both Professional Pilot and Aviation Management while building her flight experience along the way. That means she understands what it’s like to be in your seat—balancing training, learning quickly, and working toward a clear goal.
What stands out is how she teaches.
Before aviation, Autumn worked as a coding instructor—so she’s used to breaking down complex ideas and making them easy to understand. That translates directly into the cockpit, where clear communication and confidence make all the difference early on.
She’s also flown in very different environments—from mountain flying in Utah to now training students in Minnesota. That range of experience matters, especially when you’re learning how to adapt as a pilot.
And outside of flying, she’s grounded and approachable—family-focused, enjoys the gym, reading, and getting outdoors. The kind of instructor you can actually talk to and learn from without it feeling overwhelming.
That’s the role of a CFI.
Not just someone logging hours—but someone who:
• Helps you build confidence from day one
• Keeps your training consistent and structured
• Makes sure you’re actually progressing—not stuck
If you’re considering flight training, this is what you should be looking for.
The right instructor doesn’t just teach you how to fly.
They make sure you keep moving forward.
If you want to meet instructors like Autumn and see how the program works, come out to an upcoming Aviation Open House—or just reach out and start the conversation.
