Faculty Spotlight:
Meet Assistant Professor Kristin Hamre, who has taught in policy, research, human development and theory across both MSW and BSW programs!
Background: Kristin moved to Indiana from Minneapolis, Minnesota (where she is from) nearly 4 yers ago with her husband and daughter. At the time of her move, she was pregnant with her son, born a Hoosier!
Advice for students who want to pursue Social Work: Learn everything you can to make a difference in people’s lives and to advance communities that are socially just. At the same time, realize you can’t know it all, and be willing to tap in to your networks, and the expertise of the people and groups you are trying to help—always remember to center them and their experiences.
Hobbies: Kristin says her kids have truly made her the luckiest mom on the planet—She tells them that every day. She really loves being with family. Recently, her family has been doing ice skating lessons—after all, mom and dad are from Minnesota, her kids need to know how to play hockey!
