U of I Extension STEAM in the Classroom STEAM in the Classroom is a program developed to educate youth on concepts within Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Agriculture, and Math.

Even though agriculture is still a large part of our educational services, we are introducing new programs involved with STEAM in order to provide authentic learning experiences for youth in McLean and Woodford County. Here are some of the things we do. Loaning curriculum and programming kits in order to help teach about various STEAM-related topics. These kits have lesson plans and most items to

complete the lessons included. Possible kit options are:
• Crops
• Plants
• Livestock and other animals
• Farm machinery
• Weather
• Soil
• Minerals
• Robotics
• Computer programming

Educational programming presentations, upon request. Type of locations served:
• Schools (Pre-K-12)
• Library Programs
• Youth Programs
• Daycares

Many FREE resources for teachers including:
• STEAM Programming and curriculum kits
• STEAM lessons
• Ag Mags
• Soy crayons
• Coloring books

Provide educators with a monthly electronic newsletter detailing new resources, upcoming events, such as workshops to earn professional development credits, and important information for your county. The first public input survey for the Comprehensive Plan is now live. This survey is designed to gather input from community members about how they envision the future of McLean County.

-Identify priorities for the Comprehensive Plan.
-Shape a vision statement to guide the planning process.
-Inform future community outreach efforts by showing where additional engagement is needed.

Come join the exciting new 4-H Coding Summer Camp happening July 13–16! Dive into the world of coding as you learn the basics of HTML/CSS and design your own website all by yourself. By the end of camp, you’ll have a unique website to share with friends and family!

This is the perfect opportunity for 12-14-year-olds to explore what coding is all about, meet other youth who share an interest in technology, and express their creativity in a fun way.
