What a beautiful celebration we had last night - even a serious rain storm didn't keep people away! It was wonderful to have a chance to honor our retired/retiring colleagues, who have helped shape the discipline, the department, and so many of us.

LINGUISTICS STUDENTS: If you have an M.A. or equivalent degree, have you considered writing a book review for Linguist List? Book reviews are one of the most popular aspects of LL, and they are an efficient way to familiarize yourself with current research, at the same time as they bring your name to the notice of others in your sub-discipline. LL reviews are also short (1500– 3500 words), straightforward in format (summary plus evaluation), and re-publishable in a peer-reviewed journal, as long as prior-publication credit is given to LINGUIST.

For information on becoming an LL reviewer, see https://old.linguistlist.org/pubs/reviews/guidelines2.cfm. And if you have follow-up questions, feel free to contact either of the review editors directly: Helen Aristar-Dry ([email protected]) or Steven Franks ([email protected]). We believe that Linguist List reviewing can give an accomplished graduate student an easy and rewarding way to join the professional discourse in the discipline.
