BIGSA International Student Spotlight.

Shobnom Mustaree is a Microbiology PhD Candidate in the Row-Magnus Lab.

She studies Vibrio vulnificus, an opportunistic pathogen that can cause infections from contaminated seafood or open wounds. V. vulnificus can form biofilms which protects it in the environment and makes it more dangerous.
Shobnom is figuring out how the bacterium creates its biofilms so that she can find smarter and more cost-effective ways to keep it in check.

Outside the lab Shobnom likes to crochet, sew, hike and read a good book. Her favorite comfort food, coffee and ice cream.
