Another major update regarding the life and scholarship of Dr. Williams. Dr. Williams has recently been approved and announced as the Beinner Family Professor in Sport Marketing and Management. This endowed professorship is a testament to all of Dr. Williams hard work in research, teaching, and service. Congratulations on this incredibly prestigious award Dr. Williams!

For those that haven’t heard yet, the IU doctoral family tree grew by one last Friday, as Troy Arthur (now Dr. Arthur) passed his dissertation defense! For the many of you that know Dr. Arthur, make sure to congratulate him on this wonderful achievement! Congrats Dr. Arthur!

The committee was chaired by Dr. Pedersen, and consisted of the following wonderful scholars: Dr. Williams, Dr. Brown, Dr. Gang, and Dr. Sailes.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Kevin Byon on his reception of a major award! Last week at the Sport Marketing Association conference in Las Vegas, Dr. Byon was presented with a SMA Research Fellow Award. Congratulations on the obviously well deserved award Dr. Byon!

Last week the Indiana University Ph.D. Alumni group gained another member! Please join us in congratulating Dr. Cecilia Zhang on the successful defense of her dissertation! Dr. Zhang’s committee consisted of Dr. Kevin Byon (chair), Dr. Pedersen, Dr. Svetina, and Dr. Williams. Congratulations Dr. Zhang!

Congratulations to team Williams on their first place finish in the 10th Annual Fielding Sport Management golf tournament. We had a wonderful day on Saturday getting to be back together again, and we were able to have a lot of fun on the course as well! A big thank you to Dr. Williams for leading this amazing program, to Dr. Byon for putting on such a fun event, to Dr. Koceja for supporting what we do, and to all of the faculty, spouses, students, and friends that allow this program to be what it is!

We want to congratulate Dr. Sean Son for officially defending his dissertation a couple of weeks ago! Dr. Son’s dissertation was titled, “The role of visual congruity in Jersey sponsorship: The effect of created brand-color congruity on attitude and purchase intention.” Congratulations Dr. Son on a successful defense and a successful doctoral career!

We want to thank Colts’ VP of Data Strategy & Analytics, Charlie Shin, for generously giving our faculty, graduate students, and families the opportunity to witness an awesome Colts win! We would also like to thank Dr. Williams and his family for providing an awesome Pre-game tailgate, and Dr. Yoon for pulling it all together! An awesome experience to be back at live sporting events together!
