Check out this upcoming event at the Black Film Center & Archive which is co-sponsored by the Department of French and Italian and Cinema and Media Studies in The Media School!

Rebecca Wanzo (Washington University in St. Louis) will deliver a talk on “New Black Genres". Dr. Wanzo is an award-winning scholar of African American literature and culture, critical race theory, fan studies, feminist theory, the history of popular fiction, cultural studies, theories of affect, and graphic storytelling. Her acclaimed book, "The Content of Our Caricature: African American Comic Art and Political Belonging" (NYU, 2020), received a 2021 Katherine Singer Kovács Book Award from the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, a 2021 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award for Best Academic/Scholarly Work, and a 2020 Charles Hatfield Book Prize from the Comic Studies Society.
