This Labor Day, we honor the hardworking people whose dedication, sacrifice, and solidarity keep our communities strong.
Every fair wage, workplace protection, and hard-earned benefit exists because workers stood together and demanded better. UFCW Local 1167 is proud to stand alongside our members, whose tireless contributions strengthen our union and the communities we serve.

As we celebrate the progress working people have achieved, we also recommit ourselves to the work ahead. Together, we will continue fighting for justice, safety, dignity, and a brighter future for every worker.
Have a safe, restful, and happy Labor Day weekend!

UFCW Local 1167 President Joe Duffle visited with pharmacists at work this week to discuss the ongoing contract negotiations and hear directly from members ahead of bargaining resuming on September 8.

Hundreds of union members and community supporters turned out this week to stand with pharmacists in their fight for a fair contract. Yet Albertsons and Ralphs responded with an insulting offer with no retroactive pay. The companies also continue to fall short when it comes to providing a meaningful retirement benefit that gives pharmacists the security they have earned.

Albertsons and Ralphs are not living in reality if they believe this proposal comes anywhere close to providing the wages, benefits, and staffing protections that pharmacists and their patients need—or recognizing the value pharmacists bring to their companies.

While we have been at the bargaining table working to reach a deal, the companies have been breaking the law by making unilateral changes without bargaining, unlawfully surveilling members active in the contract campaign, failing to provide information necessary for bargaining, and attempting to intimidate our members.

Our pharmacists deserve a contract that respects their essential work, professional expertise, and dedication to their patients. We are united, determined, and ready to keep fighting for the fair contract they deserve!

Yesterday, more than 50 Southern California pharmacists from Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions joined patients and community supporters for a powerful Safe Staffing Candlelight Vigil.

With candles held high and voices united, we delivered a clear message: understaffing puts patient safety at risk, and our pharmacy teams will not back down from protecting the communities they serve.

As our pharmacists return to the bargaining table today and tomorrow, they carry this incredible solidarity and ULP Strike Ready momentum with them. We are united, stronger than ever, and determined to secure the fair contract and safe staffing levels our pharmacists and patients deserve.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us in Whittier!

✊ New Jersey just set the standard. Now it's California's turn.
73% of New Jersey families are worried about the rising cost of groceries. Their elected leaders listened and took action.
By signing the Fair Price Protection Act, Governor Sherrill made New Jersey the first state in the nation to ban surveillance pricing and halt the use of electronic shelf labels in grocery stores.
These technologies have the potential to allow corporations to change prices instantly, squeeze consumers, and eliminate good union jobs by replacing the hardworking grocery workers who serve our communities every day.
At UFCW Local 1167, we believe grocery workers deserve secure, family-supporting union jobs, and shoppers deserve fair, transparent pricing—not technology designed to put corporate profits ahead of working families.
California has long been a leader in protecting workers and consumers. It's time for our lawmakers to stand with grocery workers, union families, and the communities we serve by following New Jersey's lead.
Together, we can protect good union jobs, defend working families, and keep our grocery stores accountable.
California should be next.

This week, UFCW Local 1167 members, staff, and representatives joined by fellow UFCW Locals 770, 324, and 1428 at Vons Store #2681 in Upland for a customer engagement action in support of our Pharmacists as negotiations continue for a Fair Contract.
We spoke with customers about the issues facing Pharmacists and asked them to stand in solidarity by signing our support petition. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with many customers expressing their appreciation for the essential work Pharmacists perform every day and their support for a fair agreement.
Several customers even asked if our members were currently on strike and pledged their support if negotiations were to reach that point. While we are not on strike, it was encouraging to see such strong community backing for our Pharmacists.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this action a success. Together, we continue to stand united in the fight for the fair contract our Pharmacists deserve.
Please scan the QR code in the final photo to add your name and show your support for our Pharmacists.
