🌟 Student Spotlight: Emily 🌟
Emily is a first-year master’s student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at Florida Atlantic University, where she is working toward her Master of Science degree, graduating in Summer 2027. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Education, from Florida State University, graduating summa cm laude in May 2025.
If you had told Emily just a year ago that she would be actively working toward her dream career—surrounded by incredible new friends, building meaningful relationships with professors, and genuinely loving what she’s learning—she may not have believed it. Yet, from her very first semester at FAU, she has embraced every opportunity with gratitude and enthusiasm.
Emily currently serves as a Graduate Research Assistant, collaborating closely with faculty and contributing to research that deepens her understanding of evidence-based practice. Through this experience, she has strengthened her critical thinking skills and developed an even greater appreciation for the impact of research in shaping clinical work.
She recently began clinical practice and is now seeing her own clients—an experience she describes as both surreal and incredibly rewarding. Applying classroom knowledge to real-life therapy sessions and witnessing growth firsthand has affirmed her passion for becoming a speech-language pathologist. With the support of dedicated professors and clinic supervisors, Emily continues to grow both professionally and personally.
Outside of academics and clinic, Emily is actively involved in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), where she connects with peers and remains engaged in the field.
Emily is excited to continue learning, challenging herself, and becoming the very best future SLP she can be during her time at FAU. Keep shining, Emily! 💖🗣️🧠✨
