Labor Day weekend is here, Mountaineers! 🏔️

The University Libraries will have adjusted hours from September 4–7 in observance of the holiday.

🕒 Labor Day Hours:

📚 Belk Library

• Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday–Monday: Closed

🎵 Music Library

• Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday–Monday: Closed

📖 Hickory Library

• Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday–Monday: Closed

Open House was a success! 🏰✨

Our Renaissance-themed Open House brought plenty of fun to the University Libraries! From mini games and free food and drinks to bracelets, trinkets, prizes, and more, there was something for everyone to enjoy. 💫🌿

We hope you had as much fun as we did! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, played a game, grabbed a snack, and explored the many free resources and services offered by the University Libraries. 📚

Freddie’s Friday Adventure!📚

Freddie spent the day exploring Special Collections! He analyzed archived materials, browsed the collections, conducted interviews, and learned more about the stories behind our resources. 🔎

We had such a great time exploring Historic Fort Defiance and the Western North Carolina Sculpture Center in Happy Valley!

From learning about the region’s history on a guided tour to experiencing local art and sculpture, it was a wonderful day of discovery and connection to our community.

Happy First Week of Classes, Mountaineers! 🏔️📚
The University Libraries are so excited to welcome you back to campus!

We’ve loved seeing students—both new and returning—back in the libraries and getting the semester off to a great start.

Freddie especially had a blast meeting everyone! 🐻 We hope you enjoyed the popcorn, freebies, and, of course, spending some time with us.

📚✨ New teachers, new resources, new adventures!

As summer came to a close, the Reich College of Education welcomed 100+ new educators to campus for a day of workshops designed to help them prepare for their first year in the classroom. 🍎✏️

We were excited to welcome these future educators to the Instructional Materials Center (IMC) in Belk Library, where they explored the many resources available to support their teaching—and picked out some brand-new, FREE, high-quality children’s books to help build their classroom libraries! 📖💙

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to “shop” with us! We’re cheering you on as you begin this exciting new chapter.

🎉 Welcome, Honors College Students! 🎉

Today we had the chance to sponsor trivia and prizes at the Honors College Community Engagement event! This event welcomed incoming honors students to campus and gave them a fun way to connect, compete, and learn a little university history along the way.

📚 The Library wrote the questions for Round 2, putting everyone’s knowledge of university history to the test!

🏆 And a huge congratulations to the winning team across all three rounds of trivia: The Plott Hounds! 🐾

👏 Congratulations to Kaelyn, Abigale, McKenzie, Eva, Alex, Alexis, Kaylie, and Joe!
