Meet Daniel Russom, a native of Watauga County, who knew staying close to home and giving back to the local economy were always a part of the plan. Receiving a degree in finance and banking from the Walker College of Business was a major step along the way.

Since the age of 16, Daniel has been working as an electrician, including full time throughout college. Last year, he launched his own business, Ampire Electric Co. He stacked his classes for Tuesdays and Thursdays so that he could work full time and still make time to repair and remodel his home after it sustained damage from Hurricane Helene.

Daniel is a first-generation college student and since the loss of his mother at a young age, he has supported himself. Critical in helping him achieve his goals, Daniel stresses the importance of applying for scholarships and financial aid.

Daniel plans to continue growing his company and career in the electrical field.

We are proud to call Daniel a Mountaineer. Congratulations!
