Mamta Saxena, Joseph Reilly, Michelle Rego, Ilka Kostka, and Dan Serig co-authored a new peer-reviewed article, "From GenAI Experimentation to Integration," featuring five vignettes on how generative AI is showing up in course design, assessment, and institutional reporting. Their throughline: intentional integration — not isolated experimentation — while preserving human judgment every step of the way.

Meet Krithika Murugesan — a graduate student in CPS who's building something Northeastern hasn't had before. 🎤

Alongside Professor Joseph Reilly, Program Director for the Master's in Analytics, she's launching Data Technology and Intelligence, a weekly student-led community where anyone connected to Northeastern (students, alumni, faculty, staff) can stay current on AI, share what they're learning, and practice talking about it out loud.

Every session has three parts: a quick roundtable on new AI tools, a student spotlight, and open discussion. Krithika's already proven the concept works — she recently ran a sold-out AI workshop at Boston Tech Week for 40 people.

Her advice for anyone on the fence: "You don't have to be the smartest person in the room. You just have to show up with curiosity."

Cell and gene therapies are among the most promising treatments in medicine — and among the hardest to manufacture consistently. Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN) recently spotlighted research led by CPS Dean Jared Auclair on how AI and machine learning could change that. Unlike traditional biologics, cell and gene therapies are living, highly complex products where every step — from sourcing to storage — can affect the final outcome.

Dean Auclair makes the case that AI can help shift manufacturing from reactive to predictive: catching problems before they happen, simulating changes through digital twins, and strengthening quality control in real time.
