BU Wheelock’s Thomas J. McKenna, recipient of the annual Gitner Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology, is helping educators reimagine how students learn science. From Phenomena for NGSS, a free, open-access resource with more than 5.3 million views across 100+ countries, to virtual notebooks that capture students’ evolving ideas, his work puts curiosity, critical thinking, and sensemaking at the center of learning.

As McKenna reminds us, technology doesn’t teach a child—people do. The best tools are those that strengthen the relationships and thinking that make learning meaningful.

Congratulations again, T.J.!
