Call for German or Bengali speaker!

Dr. Painter is currently looking for a volunteer who is a native, or near-native, speaker of German or Bengali to take part in a short language demonstration in his Ling 3420: Phonetics course from 10:45a - 11:35a on Thursday, October 21, 2021. The demonstration involves the volunteer reading a word-list of 45-60 items and reviewing how to articulate certain sounds to the students in the course; speakers would need to meet with Dr. Painter for 15 minutes at some point in the week before the meeting to go over the word-list. This meeting will likely be held via Zoom so students can see the volunteer articulate sounds unmasked, but it is also possible for the volunteer to come to the in-person class. Native speakers are compensated for their time with a $25 e-gift card to Amazon. If you either speak one of these languages, or have a reliable friend in the NU community who does, please have them contact Dr. Painter at: r dot painter at northeastern dot edu. Thank you.
