The BU HKSA aims to bring together people of all origins and to appreciate the Hong Kong culture amidst friendships, events, and fun.

Boston University Hong Kong Student Association is a student-run organization that unites Hong Kong students within BU, introducing Hong Kong culture to members of the school community, and establishing links between alumni and BU students in Hong Kong With more than 150 students from Hong Kong, HKSA tries its best to organize a wide variety of events and functions for students to participate. The

Association also welcomes students from other countries to join us in order to enhance understanding between peoples of different cultural backgrounds and lifestyles. All students of Boston University - part time, full time, undergrad, grad, etc- with a vested interest in the HK culture are welcome to join!

🦙What was the first thing you did after quarantine?
I left the quarantine hotel and went straight home to see my family after having not seen them in a year. The next morning we had a BUHKSA junk party, where I had a good time with my friends.

🦙Favourite meal this summer?
My mom prepared a huge chinese dinner consisting of my favorite childhood dishes when I first came back. After a year without proper home-cooked food, getting to have my family’s cooking after so long definitely made it my favorite meal.

🦙Favourite place in Hong Kong?
The water! I spent a lot of my downtime this summer exploring different beaches around New Territories, and boating around Sai Kung. I wanted to take advantage of the sunny weather before going back to Boston.

🦙Favourite thing you did in Hong Kong?
I can’t pinpoint one, but I’m grateful that I was able to try so many new things this summer! From wakesurfing to golfing to burmese food. I’m grateful for the opportunities this city has to offer.

👁👄👁What was the first thing you did after quarantine?
My quarantine finished on a Saturday, so the first thing I did when I got out was go home to see my family + my dog. After that it was like 1:40am, but my brother and I (who I was in quarantine with) were itching to go on a drive, so we ended up driving to LKF to see friends who were out.

👁👄👁What did your weeks generally consist of this summer?
Well I worked for 6 weeks this summer but I also made sure to leave a couple extra weeks to enjoy life and go out with friends. The last few weeks of summer for me were the best with boating days, night drives, lots of beaches and of course, drinking on the weekends :)

👁👄👁What will you miss most about Hong Kong?
The sunset views, good food, fam & friends, and my dog are all things I’ll miss a lot. The experiences you get here are incomparable to most other places in the world. There’s no other place like home.

👁👄👁Favourite place in HK?
I spent a lot of time venturing around the south side of the HK island this summer whether it was near Repulse, or Shek O, day or night. There’s honestly no better place to go and hangout with friends during summer.

😎Favourite thing about Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is such a multifaceted city. From nature to shopping to food, you name it, Hong Kong got it! Especially since Hong Kong is so petite (only a dot in the world map LOL), you can easily get from one end of the city to another with the help of our lovely MTR. I don’t think any cities I’ve been to can compare to Hong Kong, it’s just so unique.

😎What would you recommend to do in Hong Kong?
Not to be an alcoholic but bar hopping 🫣With the legal drinking age being 18 in Hong Kong, I’ve gotten to explore many nice bars this summer, and it’s such a great way to catch up with friends after a busy day at work! Some honorable mentions:
Go hiking or try out watersports (wakesurfing & kayaking are super popular!)
Shop literally anywhere & everywhere
DO YOUR NAILS LADIES (so cheap & so nice)
Go to 茶餐廳 for some good ol authentic canto food or cute cafes to fake your productivity 🤭
Take the 叮叮 & Star Ferry for the views & vibess

😎What will you miss most about Hong Kong?
Probably the view! It’s always so rewarding to look out my office window and see the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong Island. Even at night, the neon signs on the street just really show how this city never sleeps. Hong Kong just looks pretty day & night.

😎Any plans for next summer?
As much as I enjoy spending my summer in Hong Kong, I really want to travel more!! I’m hoping to go to Europe (Italy & Croatia) or Asia (Thailand & Japan) next summer with friends or family. That said, I want to get a good internship next summer so maybe just New York or San Francisco LMAO

🏄🏻‍♀️How was quarantine?
I have never been so bored my whole life.

🏄🏻‍♀️What did you weeks generally consist of in Hong Kong?
I spent most of this summer interning, so mon to fri I would go to work and sometimes hang with friends after work. On weekends, I try to get outside to enjoy the sun (though it unusually rained half the time -_-) and at night I’d go out with friends.

🏄🏻‍♀️Favourite thing about Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is really a city that has it all. Bustling city life, convenient transportation, a plethora of cuisines, hikes, beaches and waterfalls :’). I love that here I can go on a hike and end up in a well air-conditioned mall soon afterwards to cool off.

🏄🏻‍♀️What will you miss most about Hong Kong?
I will miss going back home to my family and my bed, night drives with friends, hiking, streets that are still well-lit after 9pm, the sun not setting at 4pm in winter, victoria harbour at night.
