Kick off the weekend with this fun dessert, Ptichie Moloko which translates to Birds' Milk Cake. This is a very famous soufflé cake in Russia as well as places such as Poland and Ukraine

What I love about this Ptichye Moloko recipe (Bird's Milk) is the texture; a mousse-like creamy base and a thin velvety layer of coco loveliness.

"Lapti" or Bast shoes are made from bast, a fiber from the bark of the linden or birch tree. They have been worn since prehistoric times. In Russian, the word lapti is used to describe cheap and short-lived footwear.

Did you know that the Russian flag was originally used as an ensign for Russian merchant ships and became the official flag of Tsardom of Russia in 1969?
