In honor of the first tenured female faculty member of the UMass Boston Chemistry Department, Marietta Haeg Schwartz, the UMass Family showed up in pink and celebrated her life. She is sorely missed.

UMass Boston Chemistry lost one its most valuable members this week. The hole this leaves in all our hearts is unimaginable. Marietta Haeg Schwartz was a member of this department for almost 30 years, teaching organic chemistry to thousands of our alumni. I'm sure many of you have wonderful (and terrifying) memories of taking orgo with her. But I'll bet you still remember much of what she taught you. She was a phenomenal professor.
