Brothers, check your email for a message about our fundraiser for our upcoming 105th anniversary celebration! Here's the rundown:

- I'm spearheading our fraternity's 105th anniversary celebration in October, similar to our 100th but we will be hosting the event in EXP (new building next to ISEC)
- For Giving Day, Northeastern is giving $5,000 split between student orgs with 75 unique donors (only 1 other org currently has met this criteria)
- By supporting our fundraiser with a tax-deductible donation of at least $5, you will help us reach our fundraising goal and also lower ticket costs for the upcoming event
- All money donated and awarded to us goes directly to our AKS traditions fund
- Please use this link: https://givingday.northeastern.edu/campaigns/alpha-kappa-sigma-fraternity?referral_id=67d78238091aa7e362823ff2

Your support would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to seeing you all at our 105th!

Greek Week 2019 was a great success. Between a killer dance alongside the lovely ladies in Delta Zeta that would make Peter Parker himself proud and our incredibly talented brother Shervin Zand being crowned Greek God 2019, we’ve had a great time. However no honor was more exciting for us than being awarded the FSL’s Most Improved Chapter. Our brothers have been working hard on the groundwork laid by our brothers before us to continue to grow and turn Alpha Kappa Sigma into an organization that all can be proud of in time for our coming 100th anniversary. Thank you to all brothers past and present for all you’ve done to make this possible. The rest of 2019 has no idea what it’s in for, cheers to another great year in the books.

Our brothers had an amazing time taking part in Relay for Life Northeastern last night. We want to take a moment to thank all who donated, together we were able to raise over $3,700 for an incredible cause! Big shoutout to all other organizations who put in the time, effort and care to make this an incredible experience for all who attended. To all those who have battled, are battling, or are supporting someone through the battle against cancer, we were honored to walk alongside you.

Very excited to welcome you to the first installment of AKSpotlight! Each week we’re gonna be highlighting some of the cool stuff our brothers are doing so be sure to check back to learn about these stellar lads.
Kicking things off is the always lovely Rob “Yung Rob” Newman. Rob is based out of West Orange NJ and is an ex secretary of AKΣ as well as a very involved community service chair. Rob is a recent recipient of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor award for his proposed project of “determining a more effective way to induce successful regeneration of damaged peripheral nerves through the utilization of a biodegradable copolymer 3-D printed in the form of tubular nerve guidance channels to direct axon repair”. Couldn’t even begin to tell you what that means, but either way we’re all proud of him, keep on keepin on Yung Rob.
Be sure to check back next week for another AKSpotlight!
