Our frends at Google asked us to share this awesome event:

Google’s Tech Challenge Cambridge: Sign up today!

Player one, are you ready to compete in a day of fun puzzle competitions? Is your team ready to take on the challenge, win prizes, and have fun? If you’re ready, we invite you to register for Google’s Tech Challenge Cambridge taking place on Saturday, April 27th.

What is Tech Challenge?

The Tech Challenge, formerly known as Google Games, is an annual day-long event where teams of five compete against other students from Boston University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, Tufts University, and University of Massachusetts Amherst. What started in Mountain View more than 10 years ago has now grown to 14 locations across North America. The theme for our 2019 Tech Challenge is “Video Games.” We’ll have numerous mini-games and challenges inspired by iconic video games that will test your brains and creativity, as you play for the title of the Tech Challenge Champions!

Here’s what you’ll need to do by Monday, April 15th:

Assemble a team of five first, second, or third year undergraduate students from your school (having a computer science background is strongly recommended).

Pick a team name and register here (each team member must register individually).

Check out our website for more information and pictures from previous years!

Review the details and FAQs below.

The Tech Challenge Cambridge

Date: Saturday, April 27th

Time: 10:00am to approximately 5:00pm

Location: Google Cambridge - 355 Main St, Cambridge, MA 02142

*Don't forget to register here*

FAQs:

Q. Can we have fewer than five members on our team?

We strongly recommend having the maximum number of members — any less and you'll lose your competitive edge.

Q. Do you have to be a current student to participate?

You must be a first, second, or third-year undergraduate student currently enrolled at Boston University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, Tufts University, and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Seniors and graduate students are not eligible to participate.

Q. Can we replace a member before the start of the event?

Absolutely! Just email us at [email protected]. Be sure to include: the full name and email of the new team member, the full name of who is being replaced, your school name, and your team name.

Q. Should our team wear costumes?

Show your team's spirit however you choose: costumes, uniforms, team dance, team flag or poster, cheer, fight song, etc. A prize will be awarded to the team with the most spirit.

Q. Will transportation be provided?

We will not be offering transportation, but highly encourage you to use public transit. We are located less than a block from the Kendall/MIT stop on the Red Line.

Q. Will food be provided?

We will provide a light breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks. If you have any dietary restrictions, please note this in the registration form and we will be sure to accommodate you.

Q. When will our team receive a confirmation about the Tech Challenge?

After the registration deadline, we will reach out to confirm team selection and provide more details. Not all registered teams will be selected due to space limitations.

Q. Do I need to bring my own laptop?

It will give your team a competitive advantage to have all members work from their own laptop in the challenges. If you don’t have your own, either try and borrow one from a friend, or borrow one from us, as we’ll have a limited number of loaners for the event. And don’t forget the charger!

The national ACM organization shared their March Women's History Month initiative below. This is a great excuse to brag about some of the women you look up to in the industry.

During Women's History Month, ACM is launching a social media campaign encouraging computing professionals and students to use the hashtag to share stories of women who have inspired them at any point in their career or education.

We would like to invite you to participate and to spread the word to your chapter members and personal network about this initiative during the month of March.

Posts to your favorite social networks can take the form of videos, photos, or text, and we encourage both women and men to take part in this conversation. The women highlighted in these posts might be (but are certainly not limited to):

- A particular highly accomplished technical woman who piqued your earliest fascination with computing

- A contemporary woman whose work you particularly admire

- A colleague who pushed you forward and helped you become who you are today

You can find additional information about this campaign at:

Hi everyone! We've released the form for our Google visit this Thursday to the first 35 club members who signed up and now we're opening the form to the rest of the club. There may still be a few spots left, but even if you're not planning on attending it's a great way to send Google your resume.

Working on side projects is a great way to build your technical skills while creating something meaningful. But we often hear students say, "What kind of projects should I work on? How do I come up with project ideas?" We're here to help! Join us for this Design Thinking workshop to get your creativ...
