Researchers at Northeastern University are asking people to download an app that will help them understand how, exactly, we communicated and connected in the aftermath of a tragedy. Did we call the people we are in touch with most frequently, or were we flooded with voicemails and messages from peop...

Please volunteer for research: For those of you in Boston, we are launching a project around cell phone communications the day of the Marathon + the rest of the week. If you participate, we will contribute $3 to The One Fund Boston, and will post findings on this group.

A somewhat different project from the people who brought you VisPolitics. For those of you from areas affected by Hurricane Sandy who have Android phones, volunteer 10 or so minutes of your time and data to help us understand how people respond to emergencies. Please pass on the word to interested parties.

When you run this app, you participate in a study conducted by Northeastern University. The goal of the study is to find out how people use their cell phones during a natural disaster.

Ok, one last time: we are live with the "Debate tweet meter" on VisPolitics. We have a few new bells and whistles-- make sure to check out the additional pages with "Tweet elites" as well as the Win meter that illuminates the subject of the tweets (i.e., distinguishing between "Obama wins" and "Romney loses").

10/17/2012

Take away of the night: the the Twitter panel held back from ruling who won, until after the debate ended, and then everyone pointed to Obama winning (in contrast to the first debate, which pointed to a Romney victory, and not a partisan split, like with the VP debate).

10/16/2012

The debate tweet meter v3 is now live! Watch it during the debate, and let us know what you think.

booo yeeeyy in The Atlantic!
