The Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP), a program of the Institute of African American Research, promotes diversity in the academy by preparing students committed to racial equity with a rigorous and intensive research experience that prepares them for graduate-level study. About the program:

The Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP) invites applications for a ten-week summer research fellowship for undergraduate students (rising juniors or seniors) in the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts. The program will be held from Monday, May 16 to Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. MURAP seeks to prepare talented and motivated students from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, or those with a proven commitment to diversity and to eradicating racial disparities in the academy, for future careers as academic researchers and faculty. Working under the guidance of a UNC faculty mentor, students participate in a rigorous research experience that prepares them for graduate study and academic careers.

To apply, students must complete an online application, which is live now! The application deadline is Monday, February 14, 2022. To access an application, or for additional information about MURAP, please visit our website at http://www.murap.unc.edu or contact [email protected].

EVENT: Education for Equity and Democracy is a three-day event on Monday, June 21, 2021 thought June 23, 2021, 4:00-7:00pm each day.

Is the “American experiment” at risk of failure? Over the last year, the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. racial justice crisis have shone a bright light on some of the nation’s fault lines, including the disparities and structural biases that impact critical issues such as education, health and health care, and civic engagement.

Join for an engaging exploration of both the systemic inequities that threaten our democratic ideals and the changes that are needed to address them. The Education for Equity and Democracy symposium will be led by Boston University faculty and thought leaders from several disciplines, including education, medicine, social work, and science.

Join us to explore issues of inequity and potential solutions.
