Guided Walking Tour to Reimagine Downtown Bothell

The City of Bothell is hosting a series of guided walking tours to gather community input for the Downtown Subarea Plan Update. These interactive tours are open to everyone who lives, works, or visits downtown Bothell. The tours will begin at Bothell City Hall. These tours are a chance to explore downtown and share your ideas about what’s working well, what could be improved, and what makes the area special to you. The tour includes a 60-minute guided walk through downtown, where you’ll have the opportunity to talk with City staff, point out areas of interest, and suggest ideas for the future of downtown. A shorter walking route and other participation options will be available to accommodate different needs and comfort levels.

On Thursday Jan 15, more than 50 people from the Hooven Forest community and beyond met to hear about:
-Three senior undergraduate Capstone research projects currently underway in Hooven Forest led by UW Bothell Ecology Department faculty and students.
-Information from Sno-Isle Sierra Club and Snohomish County League of Women Voters on how we can help protect our forested federal, state and county public lands.
-Our Steering Committee is closely involved with the ongoing UW Bothell research projects taking place in Hooven Forest. Their projects cover forest inventory, water quality and invasive plants, and we look forward to bringing this community their final findings in the spring.

Attached, please find resources and links from Sno-Isle Sierra Club and Snohomish County League of Women Voters as well as Thursday evening’s full presentation and some speaker notes.

Thanks to all who attended this informative event. Thank you to our special guests, Dr. Amy Lambert, Adam, Benton and Cisco from UW Bothell, and Cynthia Jones, David Jones, and Kate Lunceford, our presenters. We deeply appreciate all those volunteers who brought baked goods, helped with chairs and baked goods setup, welcomed and collected attendance information, made coffee, or helped with cleanup or parking.

✴️ COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER EVENT ALERT ✴️

This Sunday, October 19th, Powerful Voices is hosting their annual Healing Justice Summit at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. The Summit is a space for BIPOC girls and gender expansive youth, their families, and their broader communities to rest, restore, and re-ground. Amidst so many struggles at home and around the world, the Summit is a time to honor our interconnectedness and tend to our hearts. They'll have space for folks to connect and share stories, experience different healing offerings, and make their own self-care items like herbal medicine and clay masks! They’ll also have childcare and delicious food catered from Native Soul. As always, this event is completely free!

They are looking for volunteers to support their event.
Volunteer Roles Include:

Check-In / Greeters | Check in guests while inviting people into the space.

Food Crew | Serve food to our guests. This role requires a Food Handler's Permit.

Station Support | Help one of our healing offerings run smoothly. Offerings include sound bath, medicine making, and art activities.

Floater | Check in on other volunteers and guests and tend to different needs as they arise.

Set-Up & Clean-Up Crew | Everyone joins in here! Help us create a beautiful space before guests arrive and clean up afterwards. The clean up shift requires a trip back to our office in Capitol Hill to unload and is where we have the biggest need.

You can sign up for a shift at bit.ly/vol4pv. All volunteers will be provided with food and a small thank you gift! Hope to see you there!
