National Dog Day was yesterday, so it felt right to revisit this one- a quick reminder that Leave No Trace applies to your four-legged hiking buddy too! 🥾🐕

A few of the basics:
🐾 Plan ahead, check if dogs are permitted and always bring a leash 🐾 Stick to the trail, protects erosion-prone areas and nesting wildlife 🐾 Pick up the p**p, every time, no exceptions 🐾 Respect wildlife, a leash protects your dog, wildlife, and you 🐾 Respect other trail users, not everyone loves a surprise off-leash greeting!

Next time you're out together, keep these in mind- the trail (and its wildlife) will thank you!

Meet Incoming Student: .vonderharr!

Emily is joining this fall with a focus on Introduction to the ORE, Sustainable Business, and a mix of electives spanning the community and environmental sides of the program. Emily currently works in Adaptive Outdoor Recreation, helping create outdoor access and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. 🏔️

Based in Seattle, WA, Emily brings a love for the outdoors that goes well beyond the office. She is an avid rock climber, regularly bikepacking and gravel biking, and loves crafting outdoors from a hammock

We're thrilled to welcome Emily into the ORE community as she begins this next chapter, combining her professional passion with her love of the outdoors! 🌲⛺✨

Did you know Nevada just invested $250,000 in youth outdoor recreation? Governor Joe Lombardo and the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation announced the second round of funding through the Youth Outdoor Growth and Innovation (YOGI) Grant Program — completing a $500,000 biennial investment aimed at expanding outdoor education for Nevadans 18 and under.

States investing directly in getting the next generation outside is a trend worth watching for anyone in this field. 🏜️

ORE student had a whirlwind week of bike advocacy in action!

He jumped in last-minute to present on behalf of the Sacramento County Bicycle Advisory Committee to the Board of Supervisors.That presentation led to a CBS Sacramento interview with Evan and Austin on bicycle safety, following a year that has seen 10 bicyclist deaths on Sacramento-area roadways.

Congratulations to ORE alum Louisa McBride! 🎉

Louisa moved to Carbondale, CO this winter and is now the Volunteer Coordinator at , helping provide outdoor recreation opportunities to individuals with disabilities — after volunteering with their adaptive skiing program over the winter. She's also found a new love for trail running, capping off the spring by completing the Leadville Marathon!

So proud of the work you're doing, Louisa — we miss you and are cheering you on. 🏔️

Volunteering is one of the best ways to explore different corners of the outdoor recreation economy — and get hands-on experience while you're at it.

Take the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association: their volunteer program brings people up to the backcountry huts for work weekends doing everything from trail work and re-vegetation to hut repairs and firewood stacking. Volunteers work as many or as few days as they like, and each day worked earns a free hut night to use later in the year.

It's a great example of how volunteering can connect you to land management, hospitality, and community-based recreation all at once — while getting you outside in some pretty incredible places. 🌲

What an incredible way to celebrate Colorado 150! 🏔️

Graduate Program and Graduate Program successfully completed the Decalibron Loop as part of the 14er Climb: Summit 2026 — a signature initiative of the Commemoration.

Organized under the Governor's direction alongside the .office and , teams across the outdoor recreation industry summited 14ers throughout the state on Colorado Day, all on the same day.
