Regional Radio Sports is currently accepting resumes for potential paid internships during the upcoming 2024-25 school year.
If you are reliable, responsible, and genuinely interested in the career in broadcasting and/or production, there is also internship positions for the entire school year.
Here are some of the duties and responsibilities associated with the internships this coming summer, fall, winter and spring.
- Internships would start the beginning of August 2024 and run through the end of May 2025. There also may be some opportunities this spring during the upcoming IHSAA softball tournament this May for those interested in getting a head start and foot in the door for next school year.
- Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to, camera operation, producing, directing, and possible on-air color commentary, and play-by-play. On-air candidates would start off in camera and/or production, before being promoted to game opportunities. All candidates must demonstrate reliability, a willingness to listen to and take instruction, and work as part of a team. Candidates are not required to advance to on-air, if they wish to focus on the technical/production aspects of broadcasting.
- A brief resume listing previous experience, both inside and outside of broadcasting, as well as audio and video examples of previous work can be forwarded for review and are encouraged.
- Pay would be $25 per game gift card, cash or payment sent via Venmo or Zelle to start, with increases in pay based on individual and crew performance and experience. Pay would begin after the first couple of games if the intern wants to continue the position in the future.
- Interns are responsible for their own transportation to the games, with reimbursement for gas if the site is more than an hour from their residence. Most Northwest Indiana game site assignments will be within one hour one-way from the student's residence.
- Commission opportunities are available at a rate of 20% for interns who would like to gain sales and marketing experience in Sports Broadcasting.
Any previous on-air or previous behind the scenes experience on a resume can be e-mail to Michael Knezevich [email protected] if interested.
Please talk to your fellow ONU students Monty Lobb and/or Nik Shallon for additional information regarding their experiences during the internship.
