In late 2024, Charlotte Forsythe and Jerry Fandetti made a $1 million gift to establish the Forsythe Scholars Endowment to benefit students pursing a degree within the WKU School of Teacher Education. Erin Atwell (’25), a graduate student from Somerset, Ky., is just one of the Hilltoppers to benefit from the Forsythe Scholars Endowment so far.

“As a first-year teacher, trying to find the time and money for a master’s degree is stressful,” Atwell shared. “However, scholarships like this allow me to be the best teacher I can for my students."

It has been one week since we asked the Class of 2026 one simple question: “How does it feel to become a WKU alumni?” Their answers said it all. Grateful, emotional, exciting, full circle.

No matter where life takes them next, they’ll always have a home on the Hill. Welcome to the alumni family, Tops! ❤️

“I met people from all walks of life, who opened my eyes to new perspectives” Jaden DeFreeze (’26)

From late nights and campus traditions to the excitement of graduation day, Jaden’s journey reflects what makes the Hill so special.

Her experience is a reminder that when students are surrounded by community and opportunity, they’re empowered to grow, lead, and step confidently into their next chapter.

We celebrate all she’s accomplished — and all that’s still ahead.
