Western Kentucky University Rugby Football Club was founded in 1976 by Billy Whalen. WKU Rugby is part of the MidSouth Rugby Association and the Independence league of USA Rugby South. WKU is currently in Division 2 and competes against MTSU, Emory, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, and Kennesaw State.

WKU Rugby is a member of the Intramural Sports Club at WKU. Our players are from all areas of the United States and all over the world. We are a collection of guys that enjoy playing a competitive sport. Our Club has social gatherings to raise team camaraderie.

In 2008 WKU finished second in Division 2 and advanced into playoffs against East Carolina University. Also, in 2009 WKU finished 2nd in MidSouth Division 2 to advance to the playoffs for the second consecutive year. WKU won the inaugural Bluegrass Bash/Kentucky Collegiate Rugby Championship to claim state bragging rights. WKU also won the 2010 Kentucky Rugby Championship to defend their title as the elite collegiate team in Kentucky.

If you are interested in playing for WKU Rugby, please contact the personnel at the bottom of the page. Practice is every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hattie Preston Intramural Sports Complex on Campbell Lane behind Wal Greens.
