“Growing up with two older sisters and attending an all girls high school, I have always been surrounded by genuine and amazing friends. Coming into college during the pandemic was quite difficult, I feared the thought of not making relationships and friendships like those I’ve had in the past. The very first time I talked to KD during recruitment I knew that’s where I wanted to be! The girls were so genuine, very attentive, listening, caring, and real! I have been surrounded and introduced to so many amazing people since becoming apart of this chapter. Many sisters I never knew I needed but now can’t live without. I have always struggled with my confidence growing up, but Kappa delta gave me many amazing friends in this chapter that have done nothing but boost my self esteem and love me :’) the start of my sophomore year I have never felt so at home then with KD. So bitter sweet knowing I only have 2 years left, I will be sure to soak up all the seconds with these people! Kappa delta was definitely an unexpected blessing I needed, I will forever be grateful of all of the people I have met through KD!! AOT from yours truly, RAGGEDY🫶🫶”

💚Why KD Wednesday!💚 Today we are featuring an upcoming sophomore who was recruited this past fall… Olivia Harwood!

“Before coming to college, I knew that I wanted to join a sorority. My sister was also in a sorority at Western and I saw how being in one impacted her life in a wonderful way. When going through recruitment, I was so nervous because it was way outside of my comfort zone. Kappa delta was the very last sorority I spoke to on the first day and I was so upset that our conversations had to end. I remember calling my mom every day after I left KD crying because the conversations with everyone felt genuine and real. I felt that I truly belonged in KD. The past year has been tough with adjusting to college, but my sisters have always been there. I know that even if we do not speak on a regular basis, I have a friend in each one of these girls. I chose KD based on the values and love that I saw. If I had to do it all over again, I would 100% choose KD. I am excited to see where the next two years of college takes me with this chapter.”

🏝🌊It’s Why KD Wednesday!!🌊🏝

Featuring our very own VP of a Recruitment and Marketing… Miranda Rhodes!

Going into virtual recruitment, all the stereotypes surrounding sorority life made the idea of “sisterhood” seem impossible to truly experience for myself. Honestly, it all just seemed a bit overhyped. Kappa Delta was the last chapter I spoke to on day one, yet every conversation gave me the immediate butterflies that told me this was where I belonged. I have experienced and celebrated many highs with the KD ladies since running home to 1600 Chestnut Street that fall, but it was in the lows where I truly experienced what “sisterhood” meant to me. On November 27 (2021), I was involved in a fatal car accident that forever changed me both physically and mentally. Not even 24 hours into my hospital stay, I had sisters flooding me with text messages, driving up to visit, gathering for a prayer circle, writing me letters, answering all of my facetime calls, and so much more. In a time when it is easy to feel alone, the women of Kappa Delta reminded me that it was not possible. Even in the months of recovery to come, there was never a moment I was left behind. Sisters always checking in on me, reminding me that I am not forgotten and that their support is not temporary. They call it “sisterhood” because these women really do become your sisters. They become family. Thank you Kappa Delta for defining what “sisterhood” means to me and continuing to do so with every experience that comes my way. Love and AOT always💚

I think when I was going through recruitment I felt like maybe I wasn’t meant to be a sorority girl, I had an image in my mind about what a sorority girl was. But KD has totally redefined that for me, they have shown me that being in a sorority is more than just superficial things and is more about having a community of girls who will always have my back no matter our differences. I am fairly new but even this small amount of time in Kappa has shown me so much and I am so grateful to be apart of such an awesome group. So excited to see where this chapter goes!!
