Chinese Flagship at WKU

Chinese Flagship at WKU Our students strive to reach superior professional proficiency by the end of their undergraduate career & to have some fun along the way.

Join us at WKU Chinese Flagship & Modern Languages 🌎 WKU’s federally funded Chinese Flagship Pilot Program is actively redefining the paradigm in language education. Through dynamic integration of Chinese language instruction in every stage of the undergraduate educational path, this program is designed to bring talented students who start with no knowledge of Chinese up to Superior levels of prof

iciency by the time they graduate from college. The Flagship program takes a fresh approach in language education by infusing study in the Honors College with Chinese language learning opportunities, incorporating a series of mandatory study abroad experiences and internships throughout students’ collegiate careers, and transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries that separated language education from learning within the major. The WKU Chinese Flagship, one of eleven Chinese programs funded by the National Security Education Program (http://www.thelanguageflagship.org), will offer students from Kentucky and throughout the U.S. an affordable, high-quality undergraduate education that combines the study of Mandarin Chinese with rigorous academics in an engaged Honors community setting.

Deep gratitude to our partners—the Honors College, Study Abroad and Global Learning Office, Office of Scholar Development, Gatton Academy, Army ROTC, Department of Student Financial Assistance, and many more—for your continued support. ✨

Happy Chinese New Year! 🧨🧧

Today we welcome the Lunar New Year with joy, gratitude, and new beginnings. ✨

Yesterday, we celebrated with a festive fair where students played mahjong, practiced calligraphy, and guessed riddles. And last Friday, we gathered to make dumplings together 🥟 — because no New Year is complete without good food and great company.

The Lunar New Year is about family, community, and fresh starts — and we’re so grateful to celebrate it with our Hilltopper community ❤️

🎊 新年快樂 (Xīn nián kuài lè) — Happy New Year
🧧 恭喜發財 (Gōng xǐ fā cái) — Wishing you prosperity
🍊 大吉大利 (Dà jí dà lì) — Great luck and success
