We are thankful to have been part of the life and legacy of Pete Mahurin, a true Hilltopper in every sense of the word. His leadership has helped create opportunities for many students and will continue to do so in perpetuity.

The WKU Family mourns the loss of longtime friend, alumnus and philanthropist Pete Mahurin (’61). Our thoughts are with his wife, Dixie (’62, ’67); their daughter, Sarah Jo; their granddaughter, June Caroline; and all those who loved him. Read more: https://bit.ly/2ZG6PQf.

A dedication for the Mary McChesney Kindell Pavilion at WKU’s McChesney Field Campus was held on Saturday, Oct. 23. The 140-acre site along the Green River in northern Warren County was gifted to WKU in 2009 from the children of longtime educator Hardin Field McChesney Sr. to honor their father, his love for education and his dedication to WKU.
-
The Mary McChesney Kindell Pavilion is named in honor of McChesney Sr.’s eldest child. Kindell (’34) grew up on the Hill when Dr. Henry Hardin Cherry was WKU’s first President, and she often recalled his passion for wanting to provide education for every child in Kentucky.

Private support making more educational opportunities for students a reality!

Thanks to the support from the SpiritFunder Campaign in April of 2021, we are building a video studio to better disseminate research. Our GRA’s, Alecia and Lindsey, were the first to try it out! More to come!!

“I was ecstatic after receiving this scholarship, as I work extremely hard every day to fund my own college experience. This scholarship has allowed me to stay heavily involved on campus and set myself up for life after graduation without stress.”
-
“The WKU Family means everything to me. From the moment I stepped on campus during my freshman year of high school, I knew this was exactly where I was supposed to be. I love this University and the community and home away from home it has provided me. I cannot imagine myself anywhere else and I am greatly excited for the future, but I am extremely sad to leave WKU after graduation. However, once a Hilltopper, always a Hilltopper.”

“I loved my time on the Hill, and for a long time I wanted to help students be able to afford that same experience. It’s a great feeling now that it’s actually happening.” – Patti Stanton (’77, ’83)
