Department of Sociology, Bowling Green State University We have 18 permanent faculty who research and teach across four major areas: demography, family, social psychology, and criminology. Besides M.A. and Ph.D.

Our Department of Sociology consists of undergraduate and graduate programs which prepare students for competitive fields across scientific, policy, and social service disciplines. degrees, we offer an M.A. in Applied Demography and Ph.D. minor in quantitative methods. We have about 50 graduate students and 100 undergraduate majors.

Over the past weekend, BGSU held Spring 2026 Commencement ceremonies. Chris Julian, who completed his PhD in summer 2025, came back and was hooded by Susan Brown, his advisor (first picture).
