🌱🚜 ESGS major, Landen Dale, spent the Spring semester interning at the WKU Farm, gaining hands-on experience with planting and harvesting crops, cattle operations, land management, and agricultural equipment.

Experiences like this highlight the strong connection between environmental science and agriculture, especially when it comes to sustainability, natural resource management, and food systems. 🌎🐄🌾

A huge thank you to our colleagues in the WKU Department of Agriculture and Food Science for making opportunities like this possible for our students!

🤩Spring 2026 Internship Highlight🤩

💧This semester, member Thorin Byrd completed a GIS internship with Warren County Stormwater. Thorin is an ESGS major and is also earning his GIS certificate.

"I got to put my GIS skills to the test by collecting assets in the field with satellite receivers, conducting quality assessment on collected data, and documenting functionality and lifespan of storm water infrastructure. I also learned the importance of storm water management features because it protects peoples homes and businesses from flood."

⭐We are so thankful that our students get valuable experiences right here in our community that they can carry with them beyond The Hill.

🥳 Please join us in congratulating Natalie Strader, the AY27 recipient of our Dr. Shelby Rader Scholarship.

💪This scholarship is a reflection of Natalie's hard work, engagement, and involvement in the department, particularly related to Geological Sciences.

Natalie Strader, from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is a junior geological sciences major with a concentration in earth and environmental sciences. During her time at WKU, she has pursued her studies in earth sciences through studying volcanology and marine science at Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy, assisting with Mojave Desert critical mineral research, and acceptance into field school this summer at The University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland. She is honored to be a recipient of the Dr. Shelby Radar Scholarship in Geological Sciences, and is excited to allocate those funds towards her further studies at WKU.

❤️Thank you to our Dr. Shelby Radar for her generous donation to fund the next generation!

🥳 Congratulations, Natalie, from your whole Team EEAS family.
