Dear Planetarium Visitors,

We are thrilled to announce two series of programs at the Planetarium this summer. From June 11 through 28 we’ll present a series of public shows on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. In addition, I am excited to share that in July we will present a special series “America 250 in the Planetarium, which will include planetarium shows as well as an interdisciplinary series of talks. This special series will run Monday, Wednesday, Friday from July 13 through 31 with talks starting at 7:30 p.m. followed by a planetarium show. Public stargazing will then follow, weather permitting.

The June series includes shows across a broad range of topics and several shows new to Bowling Green audiences. For younger audiences, DINO SOARS! CHANGE OVER TIME returns to the schedule and I am pleased to announce that before the June 14 show of DINO SOARS!, starting at 3:30 p.m., Kelly Pheneger, WBGU Director of Education, will present a program titled Dino Roars, Reads & Reels including stories, videos and activities for children and families featuring resources form PBS and INFOhio. Shows for younger audiences also include a double feature of SUNSTRUCK paired with a short about color and light titled OUR COLORFUL WORLD. The third daytime show, A TEENAGER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, is also appearing on the public show schedule for the first time.

Evening shows in June include new shows MARS: THE ULTIMATE VOYAGE and the double feature of the short JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE MILKY WAY and the show SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLES: UNCOVERING THE INVISIBLE. We’ll also be trying something different with a live program about SKY MOTIONS presented by Dr. Kate Dellenbusch. This live presentation using the planetarium sky will explore the motions of the sun and stars across the sky at different times of the year and from different places on Earth.

The special AMERICA 250 IN THE PLANETARIUM series in July will celebrate American discovery, innovation, and values through three different planetarium shows and a nine-part series of interdisciplinary talks and presentations. Programs will include topics related to astronomy, history, art, music and more. The featured planetarium shows will be DAWN OF THE SPACE AGE, classic show: THE WRIGHT WAY TO FLY, and classic show: NAVIGATING WITH LEWIS AND CLARK. A detailed schedule including titles and presenters for this special series will be announced soon.

We hope to see you at the BGSU Planetarium this summer!
