🎯 18 colleges in the U.S. charge zero tuition. Not reduced tuition. Zero.

The catches vary. Five are work colleges where students work 10 to 20 hours per week on campus. Five are military academies that cover tuition, room, board, and medical in exchange for years of service after graduation.

The rest are a mix of need-based state programs, tribal universities, and schools with very specific programs.

Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia values its full-tuition scholarship at $54,364 per year. Webb Institute on Long Island covers over $250,000 across four years for a dual degree in naval architecture and marine engineering.

The Apprentice School in Virginia is the only one on this list that actually pays you. Students earn an hourly wage plus benefits while learning shipbuilding trades.

Military academies are the most comprehensive. West Point, Annapolis, the Air Force Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy all cover tuition, housing, food, and medical. The Coast Guard values the full education at over $280,000.

One detail that trips people up: most work colleges and need-based programs still charge for room, board, and fees. Tuition is covered. Living expenses often are not.

Deep Springs in California only admits 14 students per year. Students live and work on a cattle ranch. It covers room and board on top of tuition.

β˜€οΈ What a beautiful day for a college visit!

Our Upward Bound students had an amazing time exploring Murray State University today. From walking the campus to learning about academic programs and student life, it was a day full of inspiration and new possibilities.

Opportunities like this help our students see themselves on a college campusβ€”and today, that vision became a little more real. πŸ’™πŸ’›
