Hey alumni!! You might know Jefferson Davis is merging with Faulkner and Alabama Southern this summer. The 2015-2016 honors program is doing a presentation to try to save the honors program and scholarships for the future years. We are needing some alumni to write about their experience in the honors program. If you would like to do this just reply to me and I will get it where it needs to go. Thanks!!

JDCC Foundation is proud to begin our JDCC 50th Anniversary Commemorative Brick Project. Our goal is to establish an area on the Brewton and Atmore campuses that recognize the individuals and businesses that have supported Jefferson Davis Community College over the last 50 years.

Prices of the bricks will be $50 for a 4 x 8 brick with up to 3 lines of engraving and 18 characters per line. An 8 x 8 brick with up to 6 lines of engraving and up to 18 characters per line will be $200. This is great for groups of people!

This would make a great Christmas or birthday gift!

Please join JDCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter in the student center on the Brewton campus from 11-12 on Thursday, October 22nd for a bake sale.

Proceeds will benefit the families of the Umpqua Community College shooting on October 1st.

Umpqua CC is near Roseburg, Oregon.

Desserts: $1
Lollipops: $.50

Jefferson Davis Community College will kick-off a year of anniversary events on October 17, 2015 with a 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Brewton campus of Jefferson Davis Community College presented by the Jefferson Davis Community College Foundation. Below is a list of activities for the day:

Alumni Reception: 10:00 am - 11:30 am

If you are a former student, former instructor or former staff member, please be sure to come to the Alumni Reception. We encourage everyone to visit and feel free to share memories with the group!

Campus Tours: 11:00 - 12:00

Come and check out what's new at JDCC! Classroom technology demonstrations, pottery throwing demonstrations, tours of the Thomas E. McMillan Museum and much more! There will be displays of memorabilia, photographs and videos depicting the history of JDCC.

There will also be art available for sale on this day, as well as 50th anniversary items in our Bookstore!

Lunch: 11:00 - 1:00

Lunch will be served by Lisa McMillan in the student center for $4.00 per plate.

Talent Show: 12:00 - 1:00

A talent show featuring JDCC students as well as others from the community will take place in the Neal Auditorium beginning at 12:00 pm.

Presentation by Senator Greg Albritton: 1:00 pm

Please be on hand for a special presentation by Senator Greg Albritton!

During the day, there will be a bouncy house and face painting for the kids!

This Wednesday, at 1:00 pm in the Student Center, there will be a small ceremony recognizing the 50th anniversary of the 1st day of classes at JD. Anyone from the very first class in 1965 is invited to talk about your experiences on that day and during your first year! We will have cake and punch and hopefully many students and staff as well.

Also, the 50th anniversary celebration will be held at JD on 10/17/15, starting with an Alumni Reception at 10:00 am. More information to follow in the next few days!
