It was a success! Year 3 of putting on the showcase myself, this was definitely the best year thus far and the films just keep getting better!! So proud of everyone!!!

On Wednesday, students, faculty, friends and family came to the Video Showcase to experience some of the best productions students made in their Communication Studies Production courses this past academic year. Films were submitted both by students and faculty members. Awards in Editing, Visual Effects, Visual Storytelling, Studio Production, Audio Production, and Cinematography were given out along with the screening of their film.

The winners of the Video Showcase were;

Studio Production – Karissa Freitas, Jared Brown, Jacob Curley, Jake Morse, Matt Smith
Cinematography – Gina Licul
Audio Production – Justin Belmonte, Ryan McLaughlin, Thomas Quigley, Alexander Jones, Noah Quental Keiyana Trinidad, Charles Gionet
Visual Effects – Jason O’Connell
Video Editing – Jillian Sardinha
Visual Storytelling – Paul Cronin

The event also included a special acknowledgment award to Professor Gregg Seibert, who organized and planned the Video Showcase for over a decade at Bridgewater State University. As Professor Seibert mentioned, being a part of Bridgewater State University was life changing and something he’ll never forget.

The Video Showcase rounded out the night with a new tradition of superlatives for the RTV student staff that helps oversee the Television Studio and the Editing Lab each week. These are fun and overly dramatic awards for a staff that worked tirelessly over the year helping not only other students and their productions but learning along the way to improve their own productions.

With only $7K, two weeks, and no crew, this is how Alejandro Montoya Marín made an action-filled comedy feature.
