Mission and Philosophy:
The Office of Institutional Diversity works cross-divisionally and collaboratively with all campus constituencies to enhance campus climate. OID collaborates with campus members in implementing data-informed programs and initiatives to help meet goals focused on diversity, equity, and the elimination of achievement and opportunity gaps to further Bridgewater State Universi
ty’s mission of inclusive excellence. The engaging notions of Identity Development and Intersectionality guide OID’s work in institutional diversity and equity. BSU’s definition of diversity encompasses multiple identities and societal factors. It is important to know how these factors can influence each individual’s life experiences. While there are multiple definitions associated with identity development, the intention of OID is to provide educational and practical methods to expand on what it means to be a member of a diverse community. Message from the Director:
On July 3, 2017, I enthusiastically began my tenure as the new Director of Institutional Diversity, and I am excited to continue working on the numerous programs established. I look forward to collaborating with you all as we build on our campus strengths, identify next steps to move diversity forward and develop competencies. In the process, I hope to have the opportunity to meet with you in person and hear your thoughts, suggestions, and concerns. My biggest hope is that through our conversations, whether in the community or private consultations, we continue to engage our efforts and values, transmit our knowledge and experiences, and mobilize our good intentions for the greater good of our community.
