Project B.E.A.R is an organization created for students to come together in solidarity to raise awareness on topics surrounding sexual assault, rape, dating, and domestic violence. Our aim is to combat the rape culture and victim blaming to change the way college students interpret and respond to survivors who bravely go public with their cases, as well as educate students on affirmative consent,
bystander intervention, and healthy dating behaviors/how to identify unhealthy and abusive patterns. To increase campus activism against sexual assault, rape, dating, and domestic violence by creating challenges for students who want to help make a difference, as well as empower students to act regarding safety and equality on campus. To provide information and resources to students and student survivors about the sexual violence advocacy and support center and making sure students know the ways the center can help them and inform them on their title IX reporting options. To promote a more difficult and honest conversation that faces the realities of sexual and domestic violence, as well as, the importance of affirmative consent, bystander awareness and intervention through group discussion’s, relevant screenings, and speakers who are considered experts in the field. To generate positive responses on campus in support of survivors on campus, especially when the campus police announce the occurrences of assault on campus.
