The Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma was established at Bridgewater State College in 1989. The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma strongly believe in fostering the ideal of womanhood through sisterhood, scholarship and service. As an international organization, we believe in high scholastic achievement as well as philanthropic work. Not only do our sisters become leaders in our organization, but le

aders in their community and professions. For all these reasons, our open motto is “Aim High,” pushing all our sisters to strive to their best achievement. Every year, Phi Sigma Sigma raises money for our national philanthropy, The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which in turn supports the Kids In Need Foundation and Practice Makes Perfect. At Bridgewater State University, we raise money throughout the year for The Foundation through various philanthropies! Additionally, for over ten years our sisters have been volunteering their Saturday mornings to assist with the Children’s Physical Development Clinic (CPDC) on campus. In addition to philanthropies, we also keep the bond of our sisterhood strong by organizing various social events throughout the school year. Each year we get together for events such as an Alumna Luncheon, a semi formal Crush Party, and our Sapphire Ball. These events help sisters to continue their strong bond during their college experience as well as after graduation. Our saying always holds true: “Once a Phi Sigma Sigma…Always a Phi Sigma Sigma!”

It has been such an honor to serve the chapter as Public Relations Chair and ending my term is bittersweet. I could not be more excited to see what is going to accomplish within this position.⁣

Sisters Catherine Cummings ( ) and Reese Vandermolen ( ) are sisters that we can put complete trust in, they completely embody our value of faith. These two sisters are rats of sunshine that anyone can go to, no matter what. Our entire chapter has complete confidence in these two girls and we couldn’t think of anyone better to symbolize faith!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
A few of our sisters participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally today at Gillette Stadium. Despite uncertain times this still remains a topic that so many of our sisters are so passionate about and find ways to support!

Sharing values, creating bonds and belonging to a sisterhood defines the Phi Sigma Sigma experience. Our six virtues — Friendship, Faith, Love, Sincerity, Integrity, and Strength — distinguish Phi Sigma Sigma. ⁣⁣

“Strength. When I was 13 the word strength changed forever for me. Since then I’ve had to wake up everyday knowing my brother was not physically with me anymore. I’ve had to go to a numerous amount of court hearings and trials and I heard about many documentaries and movies that I still haven’t put myself through with watching. I’ve learned a lot about life since then and I’ve grown in ways I’ve never thought I could. Now that I’ve spent 6 years without him, I can see how I’m a lot like him now that I’m getting older. I once saw a fortune cookie that said “the human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it”. Knowing that, I try to live each day with a positive mindset for him and do things that he is now not able to do like join Greek life, play a collegiate sport, or even travel. I know for a fact that my brother wouldn’t want to see me crying and it will still never get any easier without him here. I just have to try and remember that he has saved so many lives and now I am here to tell his and my own story to make a difference in the world. We need to end the stigma of mental health for everyone and especially young men like him.” -Camdyn Roy ‘23 ()
