Today, we say a temporary goodbye to these incredible Second Lieutenants.

Through early mornings, grueling FTXs, and endless hours of balancing academics with leadership development, they have consistently proven what it means to lead from the front. The standard has been set high, and we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make in your next assignments.

We promised more pictures of the staff ride! Our MS4s spent the day at Fort Stanwix and the Oriskany battlefield with RIT to study the Siege of Stanwix and parts of the Saratoga Campaign from the Revolutionary War. For the ride, each person had to research a historical figure and then “be” that person on site. For example, CDT Flinchbaugh and CDT Halloran represented Col. Herkimer and explained what was happening from his perspective at different points in the battle. Brockport cadets represented the colonists, and RIT cadets represented the British. We also had a National Park Service ranger at the fort who shared unique facts and helped fill in the more niche historical details when needed!

The purpose of a staff ride is to learn from the leaders who came before us understanding their decisions, mistakes, and successes so we can apply those lessons to our own leadership.

Recently, eight of our program's cadets took their oath and were commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the US Army! We are incredibly proud of them all as they continue their journey with the Army and assume their leadership positions as officers. To close out the semester, we hosted our annual Dining Out in Batavia, NY. Cadets, loved ones, and family members came together, dressed up, and celebrated the end of another successful year. The evening featured words of wisdom from our Professor of Military Science, LTC Sim, who reflected on our growth, accomplishments, and the continued professionalism of our cadets.

As part of tradition, we also held our light‑hearted “grog” ceremony—an opportunity to highlight memorable moments, lessons learned, and the camaraderie built throughout the year. Our outgoing MSIVs were honored with symbolic ingredients representing the branches they will soon join, marking the beginning of their next chapter as Army officers.

With the semester coming to a close, we wrapped up our final PT of the 2025–2026 school year with a game of Ultimate Frisbee and a lot of laughs. Moments like these remind us how much we’ve grown together.

This PT also marks a new chapter for every class:
MSIVs stepping forward as newly commissioned leaders,
MSIIIs stepping into greater responsibility as they guide and mentor the younger cadets toward their future camp experience,
MSIIs setting the example of what cadets should strive for in character, discipline, and leadership,
and MSIs building on last year’s Army Values by developing the confidence and presence expected of future leaders.

Even as we merge with RIT, we will always carry the pride of being Brockport ROTC Cadets. That identity doesn’t fade.

Alongside our Change of Command ceremony, we also held our traditional awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding hard work and dedication of our cadets. This event gives us the opportunity to highlight individual achievements, leadership growth, academic excellence, and the commitment our cadets show both in and out of training.

From personal awards to leadership acknowledgments, each recognition reflects the effort our cadets put into strengthening themselves, their peers, and our program as a whole. We’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished and excited to see how they continue to grow as future Army leaders.

Recently, we held our Change of Command ceremony, recognizing the hard work of our outgoing cadet leadership and welcoming the new leaders who will guide our program forward. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment continue to strengthen our team.

This ceremony also marked an important milestone for us—we are now officially an extension program of RIT and are formally recognized as a company rather than a battalion. This transition reflects our continued growth and alignment with our host institution.

Thank you to all cadets, cadre, and supporters who joined us in celebrating this moment of leadership and progress.
