SDState - Department of Dairy & Food Science Welcome to the Dairy and Food Science Department of South Dakota State University! Welcome to the Dairy Science Department at South Dakota State University.

With expertise in Dairy Production, Dairy Manufacturing and Food Science. The department covers the entire spectrum of the dairy and food industry; from farm to product. The department has 12 faculty members, twelve staff members, approximately 30 graduate and 90 undergraduate students. The department is housed in the newly renovated Alfred Dairy Science Hall, attached to which is the new state of

the art Davis Dairy Plant. About a mile north of campus is our dairy farm that is home to some 150 milking Holsteins and Brown Swiss cattle. We offer Bachelors, Master's and Doctorate degrees. Our faculty are well recognized in their areas of expertise in research and are excellent instructors. Our newly remodeled facilities offer both undergraduate students as well as graduate students opportunities for training on state-of-the art technologies. Generous scholarship support is provided and the job market for students with a Dairy Science degree is very attractive. We hope that you will enjoy browsing our website www.sdstate.edu/ds. With Minneapolis, MN roots and an early interest in healthy foods and lifestyle practices, Nolan was seeking a career path that would allow him to play a part in creating a healthier world. Nolan started his academic career at SDSU as a public health undergraduate student, where he was inspired in a food microbiology course to pursue food science as a master's student to set him apart. ๐ŸŒฑ
