The Unkenholz Dyslexia Awareness Night, hosted by the College of Education & Human Sciences at South Dakota State University, brought together educators, families, and community members for an evening of learning, advocacy, and connection.

We were honored to hear from keynote speaker Dr. Susan Schatz, who shared evidence-informed strategies for supporting learners with dyslexia and emphasized the importance of early identification and strength-based instruction.

We’re grateful to our generous donors, Dennis and Jeanne Unkenholz, for making this event possible, and proud to highlight the incredible work of our DeVaney Fellows, whose poster presentations, supported by Sharon Lohr DeVaney, showcased research and inclusive practices that support all learners.

A special thank you to Dr. Nicole Graves and Dr. Evan Ortlieb for guiding these fellows throughout the semester and helping make this event so impactful.
