Meet Bryant, our Summer Wokini Engagement Fellow!

This summer, Bryant has been helping support student engagement and programming through the Wokini Initiative.

!

This year, the Indigenous Student Belonging Group created a space for Native students to share their experiences and support each other. Through conversations about identity, belonging, relationships, wellness, resilience, and navigating college life, students built meaningful connections and found strength in one another.

We are grateful to every student who helped make this group a space of laughter, learning, reflection, and kinship.

Community is medicine.

Throwback Thursday

Throwing it back to 2021 when our students had the opportunity to meet Dallas Goldtooth during his visit to USD!

Dallas Goldtooth is a Dakota and DinΓ© comedian, writer, activist, and storyteller known for using humor to uplift Indigenous communities and spark important conversations. From his work in environmental justice to his role as William Knifeman in Reservation Dogs, he continues to inspire people through storytelling, advocacy, and laughter.

We're grateful for opportunities like these that allow students to connect with Indigenous leaders, artists, and changemakers.

Wellness Wednesday β˜€οΈ

Not everyone loves summer and that's okay.

For some students, summer can mean financial stress, missing friends and campus connections, family responsibilities, uncertainty about the future, or feeling like you're falling behind while everyone else seems to be having fun.

If you're experiencing summertime sadness, try to maintain a routine, get outside when you can, stay connected to your support system, and remember that your worth isn't measured by your productivity.

Bloketu kin le awanic'iglaka pe! Take care of yourself this summer!
