Samir Bhandari, graduate student of Dr. Pappu Yadav, earned first place in the poster competition, while Manoj Lamichhane, graduate student of Dr. Sushant Mehan, received second place.

🏆2026 Engineering Expo Winners 🏆

Congratulations to Sam Nilsson and Jacob Hinders, along with their advisor Lyle Magen, for earning first place at the 2026 Engineering Expo of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering Department with their project, 2.5-Gallon Jug Chemical Fill Line.

ABE students developed a semi-automated packaging system for Agtegra Cooperative made to repackage bulk crop protection chemicals into 2.5-gallon jugs. Using industry-style meters, controllers, and filling systems, the team built a working proof-of-concept to test flow metering, filling accuracy, and overall system performance.

The final project also included a full industrial-scale design which focused on durability and accuracy using industrial-grade components, bringing classroom innovation directly into real-world engineering applications.
