Adopt a Collection - The South Dakota Community Cookbook Collection captures the culinary traditions and community life of South Dakotans. The South Dakota State University - Archives is seeking cookbooks from West River communities as there are fewer cookbooks from that region of the state currently in the collection. Funding toward this collection will support acquiring and cataloging additional cookbooks. Rebekah Schroeder is one of the Library Technicians, and her favorite part of a holiday meal is brined turkey. While not a recipe for brined turkey, this recipe for Roast Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing comes from Aunt Sammy's Radio Recipes Revised. All the recipes in this book came from Housekeepers' Chat, a radio service created by the Bureau of Home Economics that ran from 1926-1946. The role of "Aunt Sammy" was played by over 100 women across the nation, each reading from a script provided by the Bureau of Home Economics.
