✨FIELD DAY TOPIC SPOTLIGHT✨

In previous research studies, the inclusion of red seaweed in finishing beef and dairy rations has shown to reduce methane emmissions. But how could we apply this to grazing cattle on CA annual rangelands?

Join us at Field Day to hear from Dr. Conor McCabe about a three year CDFA study currently underway that investigates methods and effectiveness of including a methane reducing compound in cattle mineral mix.

✨FIELD DAY TOPIC SPOTLIGHT✨

For the past 5 years, the crew at SFREC has been monitoring the artificial regneration of over 6,000 blue oak plantings! SFREC staff that have worked on this project will discuss their observations related to:

- Why acorn selection is important and how to store them until planting
- Management of oak planting site (spraying, mowing, etc.)
- Which tree shelters offer the best protection from vertabre pests?
- Irrigation timing and amounts

In addition...you may have heard that a new Oak Specialist has joined UC Cooperative Extension, based out of the Hopland Research and Extension Center! Dr. Lina Aoyma plans to join us for field day, and this will be a fantastic opprotunity to connect with her and welcome her to the area.
