Sssp/aspire UTRGV SSSP/ASPIRE- Student Support Services Program/ASPIRE Services provided by the program are:

Personal Guidance: SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. staff together.

staff can help students with academic or unexpected situations which can affect their success and well-being. staff can also assist in exploring interests, aptitudes, and skills to make informed choices when selecting majors or career paths. Tutoring: Peer tutors provide free individualized assistance in a variety of subjects. Tutors assist in understanding concepts, recommending study techniques,

and providing encouragement. Other services provided by the tutoring lab include conversation groups and graduate school test preparation. Computer Lab: Program participants have the privilege of using computers in the tutoring lab. These computers are equipped with internet access, and a wide range of software options. The lab is also equipped with a printer to be used to print homework you would like revised by a tutor. Mentoring: First and Second Year program participants have the opportunity to meet on a weekly basis with a Peer Mentor who provides a variety of personal and academic support. Financial Guidance: Assist students in securing the most appropriate financial resources available through individual guidance, program resources, referral and liaison with the University’s Financial Aid Office and community financial support agencies. Workshops: A wide variety of workshops are provided that will aid participants throughout their college experience. Workshops vary in dates, times, and topics and seek to enhance both academic and personal development. Cultural/Educational Activities: SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. informs students about a variety of events throughout the year to enhance the participant’s experience and awareness of the cultural richness in the Brownsville area. These activities are designed to bring participants, their families and the SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. Staff is able to work on a one-on-one basis with each participant since the program serves 275 participants. This enables the staff to get to know participants on a first name basis.

Just a reminder for you and your students that the FAFSA Application (the form for your student's financial aid) is now open! We highly encourage your student to apply as soon as possible as FINANCIAL AID IS ON A FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE BASIS.The earlier your student submits their FAFSA application, the more funds will be available for them.
