On May 8, 1846, U.S. and Mexican troops clashed on the Prairie of Palo Alto. Visit the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park this Saturday for the 180th Anniversary. From 9am-1pm the Park will host Living History programs, hands-on art activities, ranger talks on the battlefield, and information hosted by local partners. A few UTRGV history faculty and students are participating in the event. Hope to see you there!

Dr. Ian Seavey will present “Shaken, Stirred, and Occupied: The Daiquiri’s Hidden History in U.S. Imperialism” at Bodega Tavern & Kitchen’s Lecture Lounge this Thursday. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds are donated to the RGV Food Bank.

Dr. Ben Hruska represented the History Department and College of Liberal Arts at the Texas Association of Museums Conference held in McAllen last week. He worked a CLA table to provide attendees with information about the many Liberal Arts degrees and programs. 📋 👨‍🏫 The TAM Annual Conference is the largest gathering of museum professionals in Texas, bringing together museum directors, curators, conservationists, public historians, educators, students, and community members. 📜📸✌️
